Tying a Rope Halter for your horse
-
1
Grasp the halter and enter your horse's stall. Slide your horse's nose through the nose band and bring the headpiece behind the horse's ears. Make sure the throat latch is resting just behind your horse's cheek.
-
2
Thread the end of the headpiece through the throat latch's loop. Pull it tighter until you have room for about three fingers under the throat latch.
-
3
Tighten the loose end of the headpiece around the side of the loop, and place them behind it. This part will require some tight hand coordination.
-
4
Pull the loose end all the way around, and put it through the circle created by the headpiece and loose end. Then tighten it. If the halter has been tied correctly, there will be a loose piece of rope sticking hope (make sure the piece of rope is sticking up and not down).
-
5
Check on your horse often to make sure he is happy and comfortable. You don't want your horse to be uncomfortable or unhappy in the set-up.
