How to Stow Climbing Rope
Instructions
-
-
1
Lay your rope out on the floor.
-
2
Take one end of your rope in your right hand and place your left hand directly underneath. Move your left hand down the rope, checking for frays and tears.
-
3
Lift the rope up and behind your neck and spread your two hands apart. This helps you create even coils, which will protect your rope during storage.
-
4
Grab the rope with your right hand and repeat this process, looping the rope behind your neck and extending your arms completely apart. Remember to run your hand over the rope each time, as it's an important part of your maintenance.
-
5
Continue this process until half your rock-climbing rope is coiled. Lift the coil from your neck and lay it on one side of a rope bag made specifically for storing rock-climbing rope.
-
6
Lift the other end of your rope and coil it in the same way. When it's done, lay it on the other side of your rock-climbing rope bag.
-
7
Fold the bag over the rope, towards the center. Roll the free end upward as you would a sleeping bag and tuck it into the other end.
