      Before even considering climbing Slieve Donard, you will need to see exactly what the weather will be doing whilst you are climbing. Most months in the year will require you to wear warm clothing but if you would prefer you could wear layers so if you start to get too warm you can easily take off a layer or two.

      Take plenty of water. As we exercise our body needs constant moisture which is provided through water. If you risk getting dehydrated it could be extremely dangerous.

      Remember to wear the right shoes. For some reason even though they are climbing a mountain, some people simply forget to wear sensible shoes. The right clothing is also extremely important, so make sure that it is reliable as it could prove to be very useful, especially in emergencies.

      It may be a wise idea to take a first aid kit as the walk can be quite treacherous and who knows what may crop up. You may end up having blisters or cuts for example and with a first aid kit you can easily sort this out and still carry on with the long walk up the mountain.
