Directions for the HT Husky Tip-Up

The HT Husky Tip-Up is a brand of tip-up used in ice fishing for big catches such as walleye and northern pike. These tips-ups have a flag on a spring that releases when a fish bites. Tip-ups consist of a rod and reel attached to a board that is placed above a hole in the ice. A flag or marker is attached to the rod or to a spring. Ice fishermen use multiple tip-ups while fishing. When the marker moves, they focus on that reel, allowing them to fish more than one line at a time.

Instructions

    • 1

Grasp the rod and reel pole attachment firmly and push down on the rod until you form a T with the rod and reel and the wood board framework. The rod is connected to the board, allowing the reel to be suspended in the water, keeping it from freezing up.

    • 2

Release the hook and fishing line from the rod. Reach up above the reel and release the hook and fishing line connected there. The line and hook should extend down below the rod and reel.

    • 3

Insert the hook, line and extended rod and reel into your fishing hole. Then set the framework of your HT Husk Tip-Up across the prepared hole in the ice. The side of the wood facing up will have the spring-action flag on it with the rod and reel extended below the ice. The horizontal piece acts as the support system for your reel.

Wait for a fish to bite. Once a fish hits the hook, the flag will “tip up,” alerting you to a catch. The flag works on a spring similar to the device used in a mousetrap.
