How to Make Your Own Fishing Trolleys

Use a fishing cart or trolley to transport gear in a more organized manner instead of carrying multiple items separately to your favorite fishing destinations. Ready-made fishing trolleys can be costly. Making your own is not only cost-effective, but also allows you to customize the trolley to your own needs and the amount of fishing gear you own. With just a few tools that you may already have in your tool shed, you can build your own personalized fishing trolley.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a regular folding shopping cart as the base structure for your fishing trolley. Personal shopping carts can be found in hardware and general stores. They typically fold flat and are easy to assemble. Choose a two-tiered, double basket style so you can hold more fishing gear.

    • 2

Cut four pieces of 6-inch PVC pipes using the tape measure and the hacksaw. These are your rod holders. Adjust the length of the pipes according to the length of your fishing rods. Add more pipes as needed. Close the bottom of the pipes by fitting the ends with the caps.

Secure the pipes with the cable tie wraps at the bottom of the cart, along the side. Line them up with about two inches of space between each pipe. Use three tie wraps to secure the bottom, middle and top section of the pipes along the wire pattern on the cart. Tighten the cable ties and cut excess wires with a pair of heavy duty scissors.

Place the cooler in the bottom basket of the cart, and put your tackle box on top of the cooler. Secure the cooler and tackle box with bungee cords.

Place any personal items and other smaller fishing gear and tools in the top tier basket of the trolley. You can now easily transport all your fishing gear to your favorite fishing spots.
