How to Use a Rustfri Svenskepilk Jig

Rustfri Svenskepilk jigs are long, heavy-metal fishing jigs tipped with a single treble hook. This type of jig is also referred to as a jigging spoon and is fished vertically in an up-and-down "jigging" action. The curve of a Rustfri Svenskepilk jig encounters resistance in the water when it falls, causing it to flutter and flash in a manner than many fish species find irresistible.

Instructions

    • 1

Tie your Rustfri Svenskepilk jig to your fishing line using a Trilene knot (see Resource 1).

    • 2

Dangle the Rustfri Svenskepilk jig directly over the spot you want to fish.

    • 3

Open the bail on your fishing reel and let the Rustfri Svenskepilk jig fall into the water to the depth you want to fish. Turn the handle of your fishing reel to stop the line from unspooling when the lure has reached the desired depth.

    • 4

Jerk your Rustfri Svenskepilk jig upward with a sharp, fast motion. This does not have to be a large motion, but you want to raise your jig about 1 or 2 feet in the water column.

    • 5

Let the jig flutter down in the water column. Be vigilant as this is the time that most fish will strike your Rustfri Svenskepilk jig. When the jig has fallen back to its starting point and you see your fishing line go taught, repeat the jigging process.
