1
Determine what type of fish you are going to be fishing for. This requires knowledge of the area. Larger fish require increased tension of the release, while smaller fish require less tension.
-
2
Cut the rubber gasket material into small circles that are the same size and shape of the inside of the clothespins where they pinch together.
-
3
Apply a small amount of glue to one side of one of the rubber circles. Open a clothespin and place the rubber circle on one of the inside flat ends. Close the pin and allow the glue to dry.
-
4
Apply glue to another rubber circle. Open the clothespin and place the rubber circle on the other flat end, opposite the other rubber pad. Close the pin and allow the glue to dry.
-
5
Open the clothespin and apply glue to the edges of both rubber pads. This creates a smooth, rounded edge for the fishing line to snap out of without getting snagged. Keep the clothespin open and allow the glue to dry.
-
6
Open one of the metal shower curtain hooks and slip it through the hole in the other end of the clothespin. The towline that is attached to the planer board will run through this hook. Repeat these steps to create more release clips.
