How to Make Stinger Hooks for Mutton Snappers
Mutton snapper is a slang term for the snapper species caught off piers, surf and inshore areas. With an average size between 2 pounds to 10 pounds, these snapper require a mid-size hook setup. A stinger hook is a useful tool when fishing for this species as it is known to be a light-hitter, when it strikes it may take the bait without hitting the hook or it may hit without you noticing. Stinger hooks use a swivel and a leader to give the setup extra sensitivity when the snapper hits the line. Set up your own stinger hooks and head out to try them on the snapper.
