Kelty Red Cloud 5600 Specs

The Kelty Red Cloud 5600 backpack features Kelty's fully-adjustable CloudLock suspension system, dual aluminum stays and load-stabilizer straps. The Red Cloud 5600 includes a sleeping bag compartment, and the top lid can be removed and used as a fanny pack. In addition to its high-performance features, Kelty emphasizes the pack's multi-point adjustability. As of March 2011, the Kelty Red Cloud 5600 retails for $199.95.
  1. Adjustability

    • The Red Cloud 5600 can be adjusted both externally and internally. First adjust the load lifter straps, sternum straps, shoulder straps, belt stabilizers and waist belt. After that, fine tune the pack's fit by bending the aluminum stays for maximum comfort and safety. It's not necessary to remove the pack or take out the frames to bend the stays.

    Dimensions

    • The Kelty Red Cloud 5600 measures 35 inches long, 18 inches wide and 16 inches long. The pack weighs 5 lbs. 10 oz. empty. It has a 5,600 cubic-inch capacity. The pack is meant to fit people with torsos between 16 inches and 22 inches long.

    • The Red Cloud 5600 is a top-loading pack that provides access to the main compartment via the front panel. It has a large front pocket, pass-through side pockets, mesh waist belt pockets and side pockets for water bottles. Inside is a dedicated sleeping bag compartment, and the waist belt, back panel and shoulder straps are all ventilated. An expandable spindrift collar is meant to help keep water out, and the removable top lid converts to a fanny pack.

    Construction

    • The pack has an internal frame sheet made from HPDE plastic. The Red Cloud 5600 is made from 600-denier ripstop and polyester oxford, and reinforced with 610-denier Cordura polyester. Use the daisy chain in the front for stowing gear, and haul the backpack with the handle in the back.
