Horse Camps Near Mount Rogers, Virginia

Mount Rogers is a national recreation area located in the Blue Ridge Highlands near Marion, Virginia. The 200,000-acre mountain range lies within the George Washington & Jefferson National Forests. There are several horse camps with easy access to hundreds of miles of horseback riding trails.

  1. Collins Cove Horse Camp

    • Collins Cove Horse Camp is a primitive campground located in Wythe County. The campground provides easy access to The Virginia Highlands Horse Trail. Ten camp sites are available April through November on a first-come, first-serve basis. The campground has two large grassy fields, picnic tables, fire rings, outdoor toilet and hitching rails.

    Rocky Hollow Horse Campground

    • Rocky Hollow Horse Campground is located near Troutsdale, Virginia. The camp offers 42 campsites with full water and electric hookup and picket line, one cabin and one RV rental units. National forest riding trails are within easy access to the camp. A bath house and 36 covered horse stalls are within the campground.

    Fox Creek Horse Camp

    • Fox Creek Horse Camp has 10 campsites available in the Mount Rogers recreational area. The camp is located off of Highway 603. The primitive campground offers hitching posts, and a portable toilet. Drinking water is not available. The Virginia Highlands Horse Trail passes through the camp.

    Hussy Mountain Horse Camp

    • Hussy Mountain Horse Camp is located off U.S. Highway 21 near Speedwell, Virginia. The Virginia Highlands Horse Trail and the Iron Mountain Trail are within easy access of the camp. Drinking water is available for campers and there is a nearby creek for water for the horses. Ten primitive campsites are available April through November.
