How to Transfer a Jet Ski From a Single Trailer to a Double Trailer

Many jet skis weigh between 400 and 700 lbs. Jet skis are designed to be used in the water, which can support their heavy weight. When transferring a jet ski from a single trailer to a double trailer, however, you can do so in the water or on land. Outside of the water, you must have the help of several additional people to transfer the jet ski.

Instructions

  1. On Land

    • 1

Ask four to five other people to assist you.

    • 2

Park the double trailer beside the single trailer.

    • 3

Release the trailer tie down and winch strap from the jet ski with your hands.

    • 4

Arrange four to five people around the jet ski. Ask them to place their hands at the bottom of the hull and lift the jet ski up at the same time. Ensure everyone bends their knees upon lifting and keeps their backs straight to avoid injury.

    • 5

Carry the jet ski carefully to the double trailer.

    In Water

    • 6

Reverse the jet ski on the single trailer down the launch lane with a vehicle. Stop when the trailer is three-quarters into the water.

    • 7

Release the trailer tie down and winch strap from the jet ski with your hands. Turn the jet ski water plugs counterclockwise to seal them tight. Get on the jet ski, turn it on and back it into the water.

    • 8

Reverse a second vehicle with the connected double trailer down the dock, until the trailer is partially submerged in the water.

    • 9

Drive the jet ski onto the double trailer, turn it off and secure it in place.
