1
Using a tape measure, calculate the length from your wrist to your fingertips. Measure the width of your hand.
-
2
Use fabric shears to cut two neoprene sheets to the dimensions of Step 1. Add 3 inches to the length and 2 inches to the width. If your hands have a length of 7 inches and a width of 5 inches, cut the neoprene sheets to the dimensions of 9 inches by 7 inches.
-
3
Place the two neoprene sheets on top of each other. Sew the edges of the top and sides. Leave the bottom portion open. That makes the exterior of the bar mitts. You will place your hands through the opening.
-
4
Cut two fleece sheets to the dimensions of Step 1. Add 2 inches to the length and 3 inches to the width. If your hands have a length of 7 inches and a width of 5 inches, cut the neoprene sheets to the dimensions of 8 inches by 6 inches.
-
5
Place the two fleece sheets on top of each other. Sew the edges of the top and sides. Leave the bottom portion open. That makes the interior of the bar mitts. Place the fleece sheets inside of the neoprene sheets.
-
6
Sew one side of Velcro to the bottom of the bar mitts. The Velcro should fit the width of the bar mitt and place near the fingertips. Sew the other side of Velcro three inches below the first Velcro piece.
-
7
Place your hand inside of the bar mitt. Bend your fingers and touch your palm. The Velcro sides should attach to each other. If they do not, adjust the Velcro pieces and sew them again.
-
8
Spray the exterior of the bar mitts with waterproof spray. Let the bar mitts dry for two hours. You are now ready to use your bar mitts.
