Kona Stinky Specs
-
Frames
-
The Kona Stinky is built around 7005 butted aluminum tubes welded into the triangles of the suspension and main frame. The frames come in a variety of sizes, from 14 inch up to 21 inch, and there are models for female-specific geometry.
Travel
-
Travel is the amount of give on the suspension. The Kona Stinky is a dual-suspension bicycle and offers 6.7 inches of front suspension and a full 7 inches in the rear. This gives the Stinky the ability to climb the mountains and hills with some pedal sag, where the suspension moves while pedaling uphill, yet still allow a reliable transfer of power. The downhills are eaten up by the amount of suspension, giving riders the ability to go faster and take on larger bumps.
Components
-
The Kona Stinky series of bicycles are outfitted with a variety of Shimano and SRAM components. Depending on the level of the Stinky, Shimano LX, XT and XTR components are found on the shifters, brakes, derailleurs and cranks. For the higher-end Stinkys, the company used the XTR cranks and chain rings, with lower-end Stinkys using LX and XT cranks.
Forks and Shocks
-
Stinkys are equipped with coil-over Fox shocks in the rear and the double-crown Marzocchi 888 RCX2 in the front. These are made for on-the-go adjustments that include rebound and dampening. In addition, some smaller-sized Stinkys, like the 14-inch or female-specific, use the Marzocchi Z3 QR20 5 front fork.
