ATV Trails Near Martin County, Indiana

All-terrain vehicle enthusiasts have a wealth of trails to enjoy near Martin County, Indiana. This rural area in the southwestern corner of the state offers a variety of scenic trails that range from beginner friendly to challenging and are perfect for a day of muddy riding. Due to the nature of the terrain, some trails are open only when weather permits.
  1. Martin State Forest

    • Located in the heart of Martin County, Martin State Forest offers seven miles of mountain bike trails that are suitable for mountain bikes and small to mid-size all-terrain vehicles. Trails range from moderate to rugged, and beginner-friendly loops are also available. As it is a public forest, there is no charge to ride Martin State Forest trails; however, riding is only permitted during daylight hours. A 26-site camping facility is also available and all sites are first-come, first-served.

    Lawrence County Recreational Park

    • Located just a 20-minute drive from Martin County across the Lawrence County line, Lawrence County Recreational Park is situated on over 400 acres. The park offers 40 miles of designated ATV and single-track trails that range from open meadows to ones with oblique angles. No permit is required, and camping sites are also available. As of February, 2011, Lawrence County Recreational Park is open Thursday through Sunday during the summer and as weather permits during non-summer months.

    Redbird State Riding Area

    • Located 25 minutes from Martin County in the small town of Dugger, Indiana, Redbird State Riding Area is located on over 600 acres. The riding area is rated as mostly difficult based on its rocky areas, steep inclines and deep-seated ruts. Redbird State Riding Area enforces a strict noise control policy, and the area is regularly patrolled. As of February, 2011, Redbird State Riding Area was open on weekends only and annual passes are available.

    Stone City Ranch

    • Just 19 miles outside of Martin County in the small village of Buddha, Indiana, Stone City Ranch offers a variety of trails that range from short and muddy to long trails with deep slopes. As of February, 2011, Stone City Ranch was open year-round as weather permitted and no restrictions were placed on ATVs. Races are held each Saturday, weather permitting and Stone City Ranch is also available for party rental. No camping is permitted, but public bathrooms are available.
