1
Set the Trek bicycle against a bench or rack. Clamp the seat-stem attachment bracket around the seat-stem, so that the screw holes face the rear of the bicycle. Tighten the bracket to the stem using a Phillip's screwdriver.
-
2
Loosen the rear wheel's quick release. The quick release is the metal handle that rests against the bicycle frame where the wheel connects. Pull the lever up, and turn it counterclockwise one or two full turns to open gaps between the bicycle frame and the wheel connection point. Do this if the Giant rack being attached has a U-shaped cradle on the rack bar ends. If the rack has set screw holes, leave the rear wheel tight.
-
3
Slide the rack over the back of the tire, and align the stems to the mounting bracket screw holes at the seat-stem. Push the set screws into the holes, and hand tighten. Use the screwdriver to tighten the set screws.

4
Push the rack's side attachment bars into the wheel axle. If the Giant rack has a U-shaped cradle, slide the U cradles over the wheel axle. Once the U cradles are on the axle, tighten the quick release to secure the wheel and rack to the frame.
If the Giant rack has a screw-hole style attachment, attach these to the brackets that attach to the frame. Attach the set-screws into the holes at the frame drop out mounts---found toward the lower end of the rear wheel drop outs.

5
Use the screwdriver to attach the rack bars to the adapter brackets on the frame of the bicycle, if using a non U-cradle style rack. Align the rack bar ends to the frame adapter holes and push the screws into them, using the screwdriver to tighten the rack to the frame.
