How to Mount a Courier Rack Trek

Trek Bicycles makes more than the bicycles themselves. The company, based in Wisconsin, makes a range of bicycle accessories including an assortment of courier-style racks. These racks mount off the rear of the bicycle and allow panniers or box-style bags to hang on and over the sides of the rack. Installing these courier racks takes under 15 minutes and is done with a simple hex wrench.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide the courier rack over the rear tire of the bicycle so the curved lip is facing up and under the bicycle seat.

    • 2

Thread the two legs of the rack over the center of the bicycle wheel (rear.) Align the rack so the crossbeams on the rack legs align to the rear bicycle frame. Align the holes on the rack to the holes on the sides of the frame (almost all bicycles have special holes on the edge of the rear wheel fork for racks such as these).

    • 3

Hand-screw the included hex bolts into the holes. Use the 5mm hex wrench to tighten them down and lock the rack onto the frame.

    • 4

Thread any straps at the lip of the rack up and through the bicycle seat rails under the seat. Attach the hook-and-loop straps together to secure the rack to the seat.
