Stem Assembly
-
1
Apply bicycle-specific grease to the lower part of the stem. This is the portion of the stem opposite the handlebar. The stem curves down at this end.
-
2
Insert the end of the stem into the steering column of the Huffy So Sweet bicycle frame.
-
3
Observe the "MIN-IN" mark on the side of the stem. This is the "minimum insertion" line. It's crucial that this line is inside or below the locknut at the tip of the steering column.
-
4
Use both of your feet to steady the front wheel while aligning the stem with the wheel. Hold both in place for now.
-
5
Use an adjustable wrench and tighten the stem bolt. Tighten this bolt just enough to allow the stem and front wheel to move in perfect unison. Overtightening of the bolt can damage the steering column.
Handlebar Assembly
-
6
Note the nut on the underside of the clamp portion of the handlebar stem. Use an adjustable wrench to remove the nut along with the accompanying bolt.
-
7
Fit the handlebar through the gap in the clamp.
-
8
Center the handlebar. Angle the handlebar to provide a comfortable reach for the rider.
-
9
Reinstall the clamp bolt. Thread the nut onto the tip of the bolt.
-
10
Use the adjustable wrench to tighten the bolt.
