How to Install Marzocchi Bomber Forks

The Marzocchi Bomber fork is a brand of front suspension made for mountain bikes. Marzocchi specializes in front and rear suspension for extreme sports fanatics and their mountain biking needs. When you buy a new fork, you must make sure you get the correct size for your bike. The head tube is a certain size; it's either a 1.5 inch or a .75 inch. Once you've purchased the right size, the installation of your new fork should take about an hour.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the new fork out of the box and packaging. Try not to touch the steering stem, which is the single metal bar that is going to connect to the bike, because it will have a layer of grease on it.

    • 2

Put your bicycle in the repair stand so you can more easily work on it. Remove the old fork, if you haven't already, by removing the front wheel so you don't weigh down the fork. Once the wheel is removed, take the proper-sized Allen wrench and unscrew the bolt on top of the steering tube. This bolt will be where your stem meets the bike and suspension steering tube. Once it's loose, the fork will fall out of the bottom, so make sure to have a hand on the fork to catch it. Keep all the bolts and pieces that are loose. They will come in handy with the installation.

    • 3

Push the new fork into place, just as you removed the old one. There will be spacers that came with the old one; place them on the bottom of the steering tube so when you push the new fork into place, all the spacers will remain the same as your old fork.

    • 4

Align the fork before you tighten to make sure it's facing the right direction and is straight. Tighten back up the bolt that connects the stem to the steering tube. Don't tighten it too much, as you'll strip the bolt from the fork.

Put back on the wheel and tighten down the quick release clamps, and you're ready to ride.
