How to Use Schwinn Ranger 2.6 Gears

The Schwinn Ranger 2.6 is a mountain bike designed for both on and off-road usage. The Ranger features several gears that allow you to increase and decrease the torque produced with each pedal, allowing for in lighter or heavier peddling, which is useful when traveling over different types of terrain. The bicycle has two grip shifters, one on the left handle that operates the front derailleur and one on the right that operates the rear derailleur. The left shifter sets the drive-train to "high," "medium" or "low," and the right derailleur allows you to cycle through seven stages of the high, medium and low gears.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin riding your Schwinn Ranger on a flat surface free of hazards, such as traffic.

    • 2

Continue to pedal, then twist the left-hand shifter either forward or backward until it clicks to shift between the high and low gears. As you shift, you will feel the difference in the resistance levels. Peddling will become easier when you are in the high gear, although each pedal will be less productive for speed and distance.

    • 3

Continue peddling, then twist the right shifter either forward or backward until it clicks into the next gear.
