Instructions

  1. Quick Spoke Wire Removal

    • 1

Place the spoke wrench on the spoke nipple. That's the small metal attachment point where the spoke meets the rim. Turn the wrench to the left until the threads are completely loosened.

    • 2

Cut the spoke off at the nipple and at the free wheel/hub in the center of the wheel.

    • 3

Pull the remaining spoke wire out from the center of the wheel. Unthread the end leading to the free wheel/hub. Ride the bike back to the trailhead or to your home.

    Nipple Removal

    • 4

Unscrew the quick release at the center of the hub on the wheel with the broken spoke. Release the brakes and pull the wheel off the Schwinn bicycle.

    • 5

Let all the air out of the tire and pull the tire off the wheel/rim. Use the tire levers by sliding them under the lip of the tire and separating the tire from the rim.

    • 6

Locate the nipple area along the inside of the rim. Peel back the rim tape over the nipple using the knife or screwdriver.

    • 7

Pull the nipple out of the rim nipple hole. Remove the broken spoke.
