1
Loosen the seat clamp. On virtually all bikes, this can be done one of two ways. Either the clamp is secured by an Allen bolt, or it utilizes a quick-release lever. If it is an Allen bolt, then you will need an appropriately-sized Allen wrench to loosen it. Most seats take a 4mm or 6mm wrench. If your bike has a quick-release system, flip the lever arm and loosen the bolt.

2
Lower the seat. Once the seat clamp has been loosened, you should be able to move the seat stem down further into the frame of the bike. If you are having difficulty doing so because of debris or rust, try spraying a little WD-40 on the seat stem.

3
Tighten the seat clamp.

4
Sit on the bike. Make sure you adjusted the seat to a proper height and make adjustments if necessary.
