Follow the link listed in Resources below to Google Gmaps Pedometer.

Choose how you want to view the area by clicking on one of the view options located at the top right of the map. The "Map" option shows a drawn street map, the "Satellite" option shows the area as it truly appears, the "Hybrid" option combines the street map with satellite imagery, while the "Terrain" option shows the actual terrain with street names.

Click on the + and - controls located on the left side of the map to zoom in and out on the map. The + button zooms in, while the - button zooms out.

Use the arrows located on the left to pinpoint your exact hiking/running location. Count calories by clicking "On/Off" on the calorie counter.

Once you've pinpointed your location, click on "Start Recording" to plot the points and draw your route from beginning to end. Double-click to plot a point every time you make a turn or come to a stop.

Choose how you want the distance to be displayed by clicking on "Miles" or "Kilometers" at the bottom of the screen.

Click on the "Complete There and Back" button to calculate the distance for the entire round trip.

Click on the "Save Route" button to save your tracking for future reference. Reset by clicking on the "Clear Point and Start Over" button.
