How to Fix Canted Sights on WASR 10s
Things You'll Need
- Hammer
- Metal pin punch
- Power drill and 1/8-inch bit
- 1/8-inch metal rod material
- Penetrant oil
- Propane torch (optional)
Instructions
-
-
1
Locate the two pins on the bottom of the front sight block which secures the clamp.
-
2
Lay the rifle down with the left side up.
-
3
Apply penetrating oil to the pins and let them soak for a few hours.
-
4
Ask an assistant to hold the rifle down or wrap it in a towel and secure it in a vise.
-
5
Use a metal pin punch and hammer to tap the pins out of the sight block from the left side to the right. If the pins do not move, apply heat from a propane torch. As an alternative, use a steel punch in a drill press or hydraulic press to push the pins out.
-
6
Tap the front sight block gently to the left or right to break it free from barrel.
-
7
Drill out the original pin holes to 1/8-inch with a power drill.
-
8
Adjust the front post sight block so it is properly aligned with the rear sight and no longer canted to one side.
-
9
Cut two .50-inch long pieces of 1/8-inch steel rod. Put a drop of oil into each of the pin holes. Use the metal pin punch to tap the 1/8-inch steel rod into the pin holes and secure the sight block to the barrel.
