1
Look through the end of the sight; it must line up with the end of your rifle. Look from the top, and visually check that the sight is running parallel with the rifle. The sight must not be shifted to either side of the barrel.
-
2
Set the rifle sight to mechanical zero by turning the elevation knob -- in either direction -- until you feel resistance. Slowly turn the knob in the other direction, counting the clicks until you feel resistance. Divide the number of clicks by two. Reverse the knob by that many clicks. Repeat the process for the windage knob.

3
Fire a practice shot at a target on a day with no wind. If your shot hits to the right of the bull's-eye, slide the front sight to the left in small increments. Fire another practice shot. If it is to the left of the bull's-eye, move the sight to the right.

4
Fire a practice shot on a windy day. Turn the knurled knobs on the sides of the sight assembly to adjust the windage. This has five markings labeled 0-to-4. Each marking moves the sight .005 inches in either direction. If your impact point is to the right of your target, move the knob so the number increases. If it is to the left, turn the knob so the number decreases. One whole rotation moves the sight .025 inches. Continue making adjustments until your shot hits the bull's-eye.

5
Adjust the elevation markings on the sight by loosening the eye-disc knob and turning the elevation knob at the top of the assembly. These markings are in .01-inch increments. Each increment is approximately one minute of angle on a gun with a 30- to 36-inch sight radius. The mark spacings on the staff are .05 inches apart. The spacings are labeled every .25 inches.
