How to Adjust the Hop Up on the Mauser SR

The Mauser SR is an airsoft style sniper rifle used for play in airsoft combat games. The weapon fires .2 and .3 gram airsoft pellets at a velocity of 390 to 450 feet per second. The Mauser SR comes equipped with an adjustable "Hop Up" device, located inside the receiver. Hop Up stands for High-Operation Power-Up, which imparts backspin on an airsoft pellet, much like the rifling in a firearm barrel. Adjusting the Hop Up on the Mauser SR can be accomplished with little difficulty.

Instructions

    • 1

Fire a few shots at your target. Note the pellet strike points on the target in relation to the bull's-eye.

    • 2

Unload the weapon completely. Inspect the chamber to ensure that no live ammunition is present.

    • 3

Turn the rifle upside down. Secure the rifle in a padded vise.

    • 4

Pull back on the bolt to the cocked position. Leave the bolt open. Locate the two Allen-head screws located side-by-side inside the breech. The left screw is for up/left adjustments and the right screw is for up/right adjustments.

    • 5

Turn the screw that you need to adjust with a 1/8-inch Allen wrench. For example, if the pellet needs to move up and to the right to land on the bull's-eye, turn the right screw clockwise by 1/4 turn. Test fire the weapon again and repeat the adjustment process, if needed, until the pellet lands on the bull's-eye.
