How to Connect a Trace Inverter DR Series
Things You'll Need
- Owner's manual
- Screwdriver set
- Combination wrench set
- Battery cables, two size 4/0 or larger with 5/16-inch ring connectors

AC Connections

Remove the screws that hold the conduit box to the inverter case. Remove the conduit box, and route the wires from the service panel and generator or shore power cable through the ports in the conduit box.

Connect the bare or green wire from the service panel and generator or shore power cable to the "Ground" lugs on the terminal block. Tighten the screws on the lugs to secure the wires.

Connect the white wire from the service panel to the "Neu Out" lug, and tighten the screw. Then connect the white wire from the generator or shore power cable to the "Neu In" lug, and tighten the screw.

Connect the black wire from the service panel to the "Hot Out" lug, and tighten the screw. Then connect the black wire from the generator or shore power cable to the "Hot In" lug, and tighten the screw.

Replace the conduit box over the terminal block. Replace and tighten the screws to secure the box.
Battery Connections

Remove the nuts and washers from the battery terminal studs on the inverter case and the battery bank output.

Connect one battery cable to the negative (black) battery stud on the inverter. Replace the washer and nut, and tighten the nut with the wrench.

Connect the other end of the same battery cable to the negative output terminal of the battery bank. Replace the washer and nut, and tighten the nut.

Connect the other battery cable to the positive (red) battery stud on the inverter. Replace the washer and nut, and tighten the nut.

Connect the other end of the cable to the positive output terminal of the battery bank. Replace the washer and nut, and tighten the nut.
