How to Play Frisbee

Backhand Throw

Stand sideways to your target. If throwing right-handed, place the right foot ahead of the left foot. If throwing left-handed, position the left foot ahead of the right foot.

Grip the side of the frisbee. Tuck four fingers, not including the thumb, beneath the frisbee's edge. Position the thumb on top.

Coil your throwing arm across your body to prepare for a throw.

Unwind your arm forward in a single smooth motion. Before your arm is fully extended, snap your wrist, releasing the frisbee in the direction of your target.
Sidearm Throw

Stand sideways to your target. If throwing right-handed, place the left foot ahead of the right foot. If throwing left-handed, position the right foot in front of the left foot.

Position your index and middle fingers beneath the edge of the frisbee. Place your thumb atop the disc above your other two fingers.

Retract your throwing to the side of, rather than across, your body.

Lower your throwing shoulder. Snap your arm and wrist forward, releasing the frisbee in the direction of your target.
Catching

Face your partner, and position both feet even with one another. Placing both feet even allows you to pivot easily in either direction.

Keep a close eye on the frisbee as it approaches. If necessary, move in the direction of the disc as it sails to the right or left of you.

Prepare to catch the frisbee with the appropriate hand position. For a high throw, catch it with the thumb beneath the other fingers. For a low throw, catch it with the thumb positioned above the other fingers. Alternatively, catch the frisbee using both hands. In this instance, receive it with the lower hand while using the top hand to trap it.
