Shiloh Splash Park is a zero-depth entry spray park operated by the city of Brandon. Stand beneath the 50-gallon dump bucket and feel the water as it plummets down over your body. Kids can man the water cannons for battles, splash beneath butterfly falls and spray rings, dodge ground geysers and zip down the froggy slide. A small admission fee is charged, and season passes are available. Pavilions are available for birthdays and private parties; reservations may be made by calling the Brandon Parks and Recreation office.

About 15 minutes east of Brandon, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Pelahatchie invites you to bring a tent or RV and camp out, or simply spend a day playing on the park’s grounds. Yogi’s Water Town features a splash playground, complete with water slides, a giant picnic basket that dumps water and multiple spray towers. After soaking up the sun on the sandy beach or around the splash park, cool off with a refreshing dip in the 95-acre Pelahatchie Lake or the infinity swimming pool.

The entire family will find wet and wild fun at Grand Paradise Waterpark in Collins, about one hour south of Brandon. A special area designated specifically for little ones is monitored by lifeguards and offers small slides and interactive water structures, while a water fort with taller slides and water curtains beckons to older kids. Feel the adrenaline as you zip down winding and enclosed slides at rates of 30 miles per hour, or just relax in a tube as you slowly float down the 800-foot lazy river. After working up an appetite, grab a bite from the food court before racing friends down the twin slides. One-day, two-day and season passes are available, and children under three years of age are admitted for free.

About an hour northeast of Brandon, Geyser Falls Water Theme Park in Choctaw welcomes visitors at the front gate with a refreshing mist from a geyser. Grab a tube and slide down the Backsplash, which begins in a tunnel, drops onto a ramp and sends you traveling backward before splashing into the pool. An interactive kids water zone has spray features, mini slides and a tunnel through a tree, while the wave pool has 2- to 4-foot breakers perfect for bodysurfing. Numerous water slides allow you to feel the rush as you wind your way down, including a 300-foot racing slide, three six-story speed slides and a 4-1/2-story double-tube slide. When it’s time to relax, book a poolside cabana at the tropical Clearwater Key, which features 8 acres of sand beaches and pools.
