Skateboard Parks near Blythewood, South Carolina

Blythewood is a small town in the central part of South Carolina. It does not have any skateboarding parks itself but several are located approximately 19 miles to the south in the city of Columbia. The skateboard parks in Columbia are both privately and publicly owned and located in and outside.
  1. Owens Field Skatepark

    • Opened in the spring of 2010, the Owens Field Skatepark in Columbia encompasses more than 14,500 square feet of skateboarding surfaces. Open to the public for the fee of $1, the Owens Field Skatepark has concrete surfaces that include the latest innovations in skateboarding. Among its features are ramps, bowls, half bowls, stairs, ledges and inclined rails. Owned and operated by the city of Columbia, future plans for the park include adding lights and more equipment. Pads are required.

    Time Warner Skatepark

    • The Time Warner Skatepark in Columbia is located in the large Plex Indoor Sports complex, which also includes facilities for ice skating, soccer, flag football, lacrosse and volleyball. The skatepark is open seven days a week until 10 p.m. The fees are $5 for members and $10 for non-members, Monday through Thursday. Pads are not required but you must wear a helmet. Lessons are available at the skatepark, which also hosts special events with prizes in competitions for best tricks. Parents are served free coffee and doughnuts while watching their children compete.

    Hanger Skatepark

    • The Hanger Skatepark is located in West Columbia, which as the name suggests is west of downtown Columbia. The park was built by skaters and does not require pads. Conveniently situated just off Route 1 behind a store, the Hanger Skatepark has three quarter pipes that range from three to nine feet. It also has several bank ramps, a launch ramp, a telephone pole that slides, a wall ride and a box. An additional feature is a loading dock with a concrete kicker over a parking block or onto a wall. The Hanger Skatepark is open to the public and free of charge.
