Skateboard Parks Near Muskegon, Michigan

Muskegon, Michigan is the largest city on the eastern shores of Lake Michigan and it boasts a number of skateboard park options for local skaters. There are three parks in and around the greater Muskegon area. Skate parks are essential to fostering a healthy interest in the sport by allowing a haven for skaters that does not infringe upon laws and property boundaries.
  1. Jay Jay's Skate Park

    • Jay Jay's Skate Park is a non-profit organization in Muskegon County. The indoor facility houses international and local competitions for skateboarders, inline skaters and BMX bikers of all skill-levels. It is outfitted with ramps and rails for individual practice and competitions.

      The park also serves as a hub for youth counseling, mentoring programs and community-building events. Park hours vary in the winter and summer months.

    Grand Haven Skatepark

    • The Grand Haven Skatepark is a 13,000 square foot, all-cement outdoor skating park 15 miles south of Muskegon. The park includes such as obstacles as a full-sized bowl, step up, box, two Hubbas, five and seven stair hand rail, flat bar, pyramid, quarter pipe and multiple banks. The outdoor facility is a drug, alcohol and tobacco-free environment.

      Skateboarders and inline skaters have the right-of-way, but bikers are allowed to use the park. Bikes are required to have handlebar end plugs and skatepark pegs to be allowed onto the skating surface. Spectators must stay off the skating surface.

    City of Newaygo Skatepark

    • The City of Newaygo Skatepark is an 80-by-120 foot outdoor skate park 26 miles northeast of Muskegon. The obstacles and surfaces are made of concrete and ramp armor--a specially-designed skating surface composite. The facility was built by the Kicker Ramp company and funded by the city of Newaygo in 2009.
