How to Field Strip a Mauser M-48

The Mauser M48 is known as the "Yugo Mauser" because it was manufactured at the Kragujevac arsenal in Yugoslavia. Based on the design of the German 98K, this bolt-action 7.92 mm Mauser was produced from 1950 to 1965. It has a 5-round internal clip and an effective range of 400 to 500 meters. Barrel length of the M48 is 23 1/4 inches and overall length is 43 1/2 inches. It weighs 8.6 pounds. The majority of Yugo M48 Mausers manufactured in the postwar years were never fired, but were coated with heavy preservative grease and put in storage. In recent years, they have been sold as surplus. M48s built after 1955 were marketed as hunting rifles, not military weapons.
