How to Put a Name on a Pop Up Tent

Pop up tents are used for front country camping or for children to enjoy as a play fort. Most pop-up tents are made of nylon and store away easily. Having an identifier such as a name on the tent fabric is a good idea to help prevent theft or someone else grabbing the tent by accident. Marking the tent with a name is done with a nylon tent patch, or by marking the tent fabric directly. Marking the tent directly is the quickest method and using patch with the marked name allows you to mark the tent without marring the tent fabric itself.

Instructions

  1. Marker Method

    • 1

Spread the tent out and locate the lip just under a door or zipper. Flatten the lip on a hard surface.

    • 2

Write the name on the nylon fabric flattened on the hard surface and let it dry.

    • 3

Trace the name once more with the marker to ensure the fabric has a good deal of the marker ink.

    Patch and Marker Method

    • 4

Set the nylon patch out on a flat surface and write the name on the patch.

    • 5

Apply a layer of the tent glue to the back of the patch and to the area on the pop up tent where the patch will be placed.

    • 6

Set the tent flat on a hard surface, such as an ironing board, and iron the patch onto the tent so the glue sets onto the fabric.
