1
Unscrew the wing nuts on the bottom of the boat cradles. Push open the black c-clamps by hand and place them on the cross bars on the roof rack. Push the clamps closed around the bars and screw the wing nuts onto the clamps, securing the cradles on the rack. Align the cradles so they are in a straight line; there are rear and front cradles.
-
2
Lift a kayak or canoe up and onto the cradles. Loosen the center adjustment wing nuts on the front of the cradles and pull or push the cradle sides in to meet the hull of the boat. Turn the wing nut to tighten.
-
3
Loop the strap around the cross bar and the top of the boat hull. Loop it so it goes from one side of the boat to the other, with both ends around the bars.
-
4
Marry the strap adjuster together like you would a seat-belt in a car. Pull down on the strap to tighten. Turn the key and remove.
-
5
Push and pull on the kayak or canoe to test that it is secured to the rack.
