Instructions

    • 1

Make a bite out of a chunk of bungee cord (a horseshoe shaped loop) and push them through a bungee ball tie. This makes a handy method of lashing tent poles or canopy tops to poles.

    • 2

Cut raw bungee cord off a spool and add wire clamps to the ends for a custom length bungee cord. Hold the cut ends under a flame for a few seconds to melt the loose strands and prevent frays. Slide the hooks over the ends of the cord and crimp them down with pliers or crimping tools.

    • 3

Remove the wire hooks from the ends of the bungees and tie carabiners to either side. This setup makes it easy to quick-clip a closed gate onto lashing points for added security with the cords.

Wrap duct tape in patterns around the center of the cords to use as an identifier for your particular cords if climbing or in a group. Use different colored tape to make it known what your color scheme is. This is a technique often used in climbing communities.
