Directions for the Eddie Bauer Carabiner Digital Compass

Eddie Bauer is a northwest-based company that produces casual clothing and gear for an outdoor and active lifestyle. The Eddie Bauer Digital Carabiner Compass is a small and inexpensive gadget that attaches to a backpack strap and provides digital readouts for navigation and time telling. The carabiner gate is not designed for climbing purposes; just use it to clip the compass to packs and straps.

      Press the large "Power" button on the side of the unit. Let the device power on.

      Press and hold down the upper-right button to calibrate the compass for the first time. Press the button until a small black square appears at the 12 o'clock position on the round display screen. Slowly begin to turn in a full circle. Watch the display screen and ensure that as you turn more small black squares appear on the edges in a full circle as you complete your turn. Once done, the compass will go to a default north-south display.

      Press the upper-right button twice quickly to bring the time set display up. Press the lower-right button to adjust the time going up in minutes. Press the lower-left button to adjust the hours going up in single-hour increments. Release the buttons when the proper time displays.

      Navigate with the compass while in motion. The device is digital and will not display the coordinates when standing still. Maintain a slight pace to allow the device to provide accurate navigation displays.

      Press the carabiner gate onto a strap and release it to lock the compass onto the strap.
