Thule Snug-Tite Lock Instructions

Thule racks are made as modular units. Thule designed its products this way so users add or take off pieces as they see fit. One addition to the system is the Snug-Tite locks. These go into the plugs on sports racks, preventing theft of the racks and gear they hold. Use a Snug-Tite system according to the company's instructions to ensure the rack and all gear stay safe and secure on the vehicle.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the plastic plug found on the barrel hole of the Snug-Tite lock.

    • 2

Turn the cover -- found on the opposite side of the plug -- open by pushing up on the flap until it is above the lock cylinder.

    • 3

Insert the blank change key into the lock cylinder. The change key is identified as it has no cut-teeth on the ridges.

    • 4

Slide the cylinder into the Snug-Tite housing. Keep the change key in the cylinder during this process. Remove the change key from the cylinder when the cylinder is inside the housing. Insert the lock key --with the ridged teeth -- into the cylinder.

    • 5

Insert the Snug-Tite lock into the Thule rack at the blank receiving lock hole. Slide the hitch pin through the rack, then lock the Snug-Tite into the hitch pin. Turn the lock key to the left to lock the Thule rack. Remove the key and place the cover cap over the lock keyhole.
