Instructions for a CoPilot Bike Seat

Using your bicycle can be a fun way to get around without relying on your car --- and stay fit while doing so. If you have a small child, however, taking your bike is not always the best option. The CoPilot company makes bicycle accessories including a line of children's bike seats you can attach to the back of your bike, allowing you to use your bike and have fun with your child.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide the rack extenders into top portion of the seat rack, and push the four provided screws into the holes. Attach the provided nuts to the screws, but do not tighten them. Pull the seat rack struts until they are wide enough apart to fit onto the bike frame. Push two screws through the holes on the struts and the frame, and attach (but do not tighten) the nuts.

    • 2

Attach the extenders connected to the seat from to the mounts on the bike frame with the provided screws, and attach the nuts. You may need to bend the extenders with your arms to line them up with the holes on the mounts.

    • 3

Pull up on the bike seat frame until it is level with the ground (the frame must be level to ensure your child's safety). Once the frame is level, tighten all the nuts you used in steps 1 and 2 with a crescent wrench.

    • 4

Slide the CoPilot seat into the guides on the seat rack, and push it forward until you hear a click indicating the front and rear latches have securely clasped onto the seat. Move the seat around with your hands to ensure the seat is secure. You should not be able to move the seat independently from the rack.

    • 5

Slide the security bar into the rear latch by pressing down on the latch and pushing the bar through until the latch clasps down again. Pull the security strap, and wrap it around the tube on the rear of the seat. Clip the end of the strap onto the ring on the rack, and tighten the strap.
