Instructions for a Baby Bike Seat

Some bike manufacturers offer rear-mounted baby bike seats. These seats are built to carry children up to 40 lbs and secure the child with a five-point harness. Adjustable features allow the seat to adjust for the child's growth. Comfort features are built into the seat, including padded seats and backs. Most seats fit all 26- and 27-inch bikes. Securing the bike seat to the bicycle proves easy with just a few steps, completed in less than a half hour.

    • 1

Twist off the seat post bolt located underneath the adult's bicycle seat with the adjustable wrench.

    • 2

Slide the open end of the U-bracket over the seat post's hole and line up the last hole on the U-bracket with the seat post.

    • 3

Replace the seat bolt, washer and nut. Set the seat back on its post. Hand tighten the bolt, washer and nut.

    • 4

Align the right and left seat supports on the bottom of the baby bike seat with the holes of the U-bracket now attached to the adult seat. Line up the holes on each side of the seat support with the corresponding U-bracket holes. Choose from one of the five adjustment holes based on how it fits best on your bike.

    • 5

Push the bolt through the holes and hand tighten to secure the bolt to the washer and nut.

    • 6

Insert the provided shorter lower bracket into the long bracket's end and twist to tighten after positioning over the rear fork of the bike near the rear wheel's middle.

    • 7

Insert the bolt, washer and nut through the holes securing the short and long bracket, and hand tighten.

    • 8

Position the foot guard's edge under the front of the bike seat and over the seat support. Secure the attached strips to the bike fork on each side of the back wheel by threading one through its hole and pulling on the strip's end and then repeating on the opposite fork with the other strip.
