1
Equip your three-wheeler for safety. Place a red rear reflector on the back wheels and a head lamp on the front of the bike. Buy a tire pump and tire patch kit to carry with you when biking in case any of your tires go flat. Purchase a helmet and light-colored clothing to wear when biking.
-
2
Inspect your bike for mechanical problems. Squeeze the brakes to see if they respond. Feel the tires to make sure they are firm, or measure the pressure with a gauge.
-
3
Practice riding your three-wheeler in your driveway, an empty parking lot or another traffic-free place. Practice shifting gears and braking under different conditions to get a feel for how your bike works. Ride with and without things in your basket to get used to how hard you should pedal in different situations. Make turns and ride around corners. Keep practicing until you feel comfortable and can make maneuvers smoothly.
-
4
Wear your helmet whenever you bike. Wear brightly colored clothing during the day and light colored clothing at night..
-
5
Obey traffic and safety rules. Drive with the flow of traffic and stay as far to the right as possible unless you are making a left turn. Use hand signals before making turns.
