How to Make Bicycle Reflectors From Aluminum Foil

Road biking can be dangerous. Very few places in the U.S. have bike lanes along busy roads. So when you ride your bike at night, you'll need to make sure you have the right safety equipment, including reflectors on your tires. Here's how you can use aluminum foil to make a replacement front wheel bike reflector.

Things You'll Need

  • Aluminum foil
  • 2-by-3-by-1/4 inch piece of wood
  • 2-by-1-by-1/4 inch piece of wood

Instructions

    • 1

Use wood glue to glue together your two pieces of wood. The smaller piece should be centered on the larger piece so that the 1-inch sides of the small piece are even with the 3-inch sides of the larger one. Press the two pieces together firmly.

    • 2

Take a piece of aluminum foil, and crumple it up in your hands into a small, loose ball. Unfold the aluminum foil so that it is somewhat flat again.

    • 3

Use apoxy to glue the center of your aluminum foil to the small piece of wood.

    • 4

Fold the aluminum foil around the edges of the larger piece of wood, and glue the aluminum foil to the back of the large piece of wood.

    • 5

Attach your aluminum foil reflector to the front wheel of your bike, and you are ready to ride.
