How to Make Pennants

Pennants are fun, spirit-filled items to have at a sporting event or simply hang on your wall to support your sports teams of choice. Making your own pennant is easy and allows you the flexibility of choosing your colors, size and design. With only a few household items, you can add some flare to supporting your favorite team. Instead of spending a considerable amount of money on an overpriced pennant at the stadium, you can bring your own and show just as much spirit.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw the triangle pennant shape on the piece of paper. This is the pattern for your pennant. You can make the pattern as big or small as you want.

    • 2

Put the pattern on the felt and trace it with the chalk. Make sure your lines are straight or you're going to have a weird looking pennant.

    • 3

Cut the pennant out of the piece of felt carefully. Be sure to stay inside the chalk line so you can't see it when it's cut out.

    • 4

Cut out the design pieces and lettering from the other colors of felt. Once you have your designs cut out, glue them on the first piece of felt you cut (the triangle piece). Leave yourself about 1/2 inch on the short edge of the triangle piece so you can attach the dowel.

    • 5

Glue the pennant to the dowel by dabbing glue up and down the edge of the pennant. Lay the dowel down on the strip of glue and let dry.
