How to Make a Putting Trainer From Snow Sticks

Just because skiing season is over doesn't mean you need to put your snow sticks on moth balls. You won't have to wait for long until the weather allows for golf. In the meantime, take some time to practice your golf swing. Snow sticks convert to putting trainers easily and quickly, if you can use simple hand tools and a power drill safely. Converting your snow sticks to a putting trainer will help you gain the edge on your golfing buddies.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on your safety goggles. Cut the 2-foot-by-4-foot piece of lumber into three pieces: one 3-foot piece and two 6-inch lengths. On the 6-inch pieces, label one of the long sides "front" and the other "back."

    • 2

Mark off a 1-inch deep, 1/2-inch wide notch on each of the 6-inch pieces' short sides with a pencil. The notches must be 3/4 inches from the front. The 3-foot piece is the putting trainer's bottom. The 6-inch pieces are its uprights.

    • 3

Cut out the sides of the notches with the straight backed handsaw. Punch out the centers with the chisel and mallet. The notched out ends are the tops.

    • 4

Place the uprights against the sides of the bottom so the pieces form a flattened "U" shape. Fasten them by drilling two 3-inch wood screws through the uprights into the the bottom piece. Place the snow stick into the rails.
