1
Pick a spot for the snow jump. Plan enough room for the entrance to the jump as well as the landing. Select a location that is removed from fences, trees or outbuildings, such as garages or barns.
-
2
Collect the snow using shovels, plows or snowblowers to make a pile.
-
3
Shape the snow into a jump. Make the jump wider than you think you'll need it to be in order to accommodate slipping and sliding. If you don't have enough snow to achieve the height and width you'd like, use a wooden ramp or a prefab plastic skateboard ramps and cover it with several inches of snow.
-
4
Pack the snow tightly into place. You can do this with shovels or a snowblowers to compact it.
-
5
Smooth the snow using a wide, flat shovel. The smoother the surface, the better results you'll have while sledding.
-
6
Increase your speed by lightly watering the snow jump. Allow the jump to freeze and repeat over two or three nights to create a level surface that is strong and slick.
-
7
Make a soft snow hill for landing, or construct a gradual run down to a level surface to end the jump.
