How to Use Street Gliders

Street gliders are the newest incarnation of roller skates, with the wheels beside the feet rather than under the feet. Most are made "one size fits all." Many street gliders also have lights that can be turned on for night safety or to create a flashy light show.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on street gliders by setting your heel on the platform between the two wheels. Pull the strap over your foot and latch it in place. Tighten the strap to create a secure fit.

    • 2

Put on knee pads, elbow pads and a helmet for protection.

    • 3

Get into position by placing one foot in front of the other. Shift your weight slightly backward, to your heels. This is known as the crocodile stance.

    • 4

Kick off by pushing the ground behind you with the toe of your back foot and propelling yourself forward.

    • 5

Glide by keeping your weight on your heels. Keep one foot in front of the other.

    • 6

Continue or increase momentum by pushing the ground with the toe of your back foot. This is similar to pushing a skateboard.

    • 7

Make turns by shifting your weight slightly in the direction you want to turn.

    • 8

Stop by lifting the toe of your front foot up so that your heel drags on the ground.

    • 9

Switch to walking by shifting your weight forward and putting your toes on the ground.
