How to Clean Longboard Griptape

The grip tape is an important feature of any skateboard, including longboards, because it prevents the rider from ending up on the ground. But all that standing on the grip tape inevitably transfers some amount of dirt to the grip tape surface, where it becomes embedded. Keeping your grip tape clean will both improve the lifespan of the tape and the longboard’s aesthetics.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the longboard on the ground or another level surface with the wheels down.

    • 2

Get the brush wet, and begin scrubbing the grip tape. Do not use too much force with your scrubbing, as this may harm the grip tape. Instead, use gentle scrubbing.

    • 3

Blot, with the towel, the dirt that has been loosened by your scrubbing.

    • 4

Scrub the board again if there is still dirt in the grip tape. Continue scrubbing and blotting until the longboard appears clean.
