Snowmobile Trails in McCall, Idaho
-
Payette North
-
The Payette National Forest encircles McCall, Idaho and is where the snowmobile trails are located. In the northern area, west of Payette Lake, riders can travel along the Goose Creek Falls, Wallace Lane, Copet Creek and the Francis Wallace trails. The trails lead to designated play areas for snowmobilers. The northern area has eight play zones that are marked either easy, medium or expert. The area also has a skiing area that snowmobilers must be aware of as not to hurt any skiers. Maps of all the areas are available around McCall at lodges and restaurants or online (see References). Get a map before heading out on the trails.
Payette Central
-
The central area in Payette, southwest of Payette Lake, is made up of the Ridge Run, Blue Bunch and East Run trails, with little trails extending off of the two main trails. The area has around six play areas, including an easy area and an expert area. The area coming down from the north starts off easy and progressively gets harder as you head south. Be careful when traveling south if you are a beginner.
Payette South
-
The southern area is west of the Cascade Reservoir. The trails continue with Ridge Run and Blue Bunch and also add in Lady Bug and Snowbank. Three play areas are available from easy to expert, and is a mix of the three difficulties. Some ski areas are around the area, so watch out for those. This area also looks to be the most mountainous, so take extra precaution.
Fun Run
-
The McCall area also holds a Fun Run at Bear Creek Lodge. In 2011, the event takes place on February 5 and the entrance fee is $10. The run encompasses a series of check points where you can also enter to win a raffle of small prizes. All proceeds from the raffle go to local area M/D High School scholarships, the high school's booster club and the McCall Food Bank. The winner of the Fun Run also wins $500. The event is sponsored by the McCall Area Snowmobile Club, and complete rules and information on registration can be found by contacting the club (see References).
