Snowmobile Trails in Utah
-
Cedar Mountain
-
The Cedar Mountain Snowmobile Complex offers a mosaic of trails in southern Utah, about a four-hour drive from Las Vegas. Take the wide, groomed Cedar Breaks Trail leading to the scenic Cedar Breaks National Monument. Access the trail through the Mammoth Summit Trailhead located just off Highway 143. Alternatively, gain access at the Midway Trailhead next to Highway 14. Another option is the Duck Creek Trail, between the Midway Valley and the Markagunt Plateau. This trail is narrow and often bumpy, so use caution. Also within the Cedar Mountain Snowmobile Complex are the Sage Valley, Lars Fork and Strawberry Point trails.
Wasatch Mountain
-
Wasatch Mountain State Park near Midway is Utah's most developed state park. It offers 70 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. Facilities including parking, restrooms and designated play areas are available near Midway and American Fork. Warming stations are located at the golf course clubhouse and park visitor center. Trails at Wasatch Mountain include the Midway Reservoir Trail, Snake Creek Trail, Cummings Parkway, Mill Flat-Tibble Fork, Cascade Springs, Mutual Dell and Sundance.
Uinta Basin
-
The Uinta Basin Snowmobile Complex offers more than 75 miles of groomed trails in the eastern Uinta Mountains, the state's highest mountain range. Access the trails from U.S. 191 north of Vernal. Find trailheads at Elk Meadows, East McKee, Flaming Gorge, Red Canyon Lodge and Taylor Mountain. One of the more extensive trails is the Don Hatch, which is named after one of Utah's outdoor recreation pioneers. The 22-mile-long trail parallels U.S. Highway 44 near the summit of the Unita Mountains. Another trail in the Uinta Basin Snowmobile Complex is the Red Cloud Loop, which has been designated as a National Scenic Byway.
Mirror Lake and Mill Hollow
-
More than 150 miles of groomed trails exist within the Mirror Lake and Mill Hollow Snowmobile Complexes, located within an hour's drive of Salt Lake City in the high Uinta Mountains. One of the trails is Mirror Lake Highway, a 35-mile trail that climbs to an elevation of 10,600 feet at the Bald Mountain overlook. The Utah Division of Parks and Recreation advises snowmobile riders to exercise extreme caution, as most of the play areas are on frozen lakes. Among the other trails in the complexes are Soapstone, Wolf Creek, Nobletts, Whitney and North Slope.
