Ronald W. Sargent Trail System

The Ronald W. Sargent Trail System is the largest collection of trails in the region. It is maintained by the Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Club. The club owns three groomers and uses a host of volunteers to keep the trails clear. Snowmobile riders can access the trail from downtown Rangeley. There are multiple streets that allow snowmobile traffic during the winter. Trail maps can be picked up at the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce, local businesses, or by contacting the club through their website.

Black Fly Loop

The Black Fly Loop is a 228-mile trail that encircles Franklin County. Rangeley is located on the western edge. The Black Fly Loop can be accessed through the Ronald W. Sargent Trail System (see above). The route is one of the most popular in the region with plenty of scenic overlooks. Maps for the Black Fly Loop can be found at many local businesses. The Rangeley Lakes snowmobile club can provide trail conditions.
International Trail System

Two routes of the International Trail System (ITS) pass through Rangeley. ITS-84 can be used to access areas in Western Maine and New Hampshire. The ITS-89 passes through Rangeley as it heads north into Canada. Snowmobile riders crossing the border need to bring proper identification. Trail maps can be ordered through the Maine Snowmobile Association website.
