2001 Yamaha SX600R Snowmobile Specifications

The 2001 Yamaha SX600R was a single capacity snowmobile. It was one of 16 snowmobile models produced by Yamaha for the model year. Considered a touring snowmobile, it also served for racing and competition. A highlight on this year's model was increased handling with the addition of the Rocker skis. The model was produced in a bright, metallic blue.
  1. Engine

    • The 2001 Yamaha SX600R was a powerful snowmobile equipped with a 593 cc, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that maintained throttle and performance better than a fan-cooled engine, especially in colder weather. The engine featured a 65 mm bore by a 59.6 mm stroke and a Mikuni TM33 X3 liquid-heated carburetor. The engine turned over by way of a digital CDI ignition that powered a variable ratio transmission. The snowmobile was able to hold 11.7 gallons of gasoline and required 3.2 qts. of Yamalube 2-Cycle oil.

    Steering

    • The SX600R featured front independent trailing arm suspension with a proaction SX-R rear suspension. The snowmobile featured an advanced hydraulic, ventilated disc braking system as well. The new plastic Rocker skis improved handling and made steering more effortless than in years before.

    Dimensions

    • The ski stance measured 42.1 inches and had track dimensions of 15 inches wide, 121 inches long and 0.92 inches high. The SX600R had a body length of 108.7 inches, 48.4 inches high and 46.1 inches wide. It weighed 485 lbs.
