1
Choose a good blank. Find a good surf-supply catalog and browse through the different types of surfboard blanks available. They come in different sizes and materials, so do your research to make sure that you're getting the right one for your needs. The surf blanks are pretty close to a finished board, so choose wisely.

2
Get ready to apply the resin. Prepare and apply the resin to the board according to the directions. You'll have to mix together both the surfboard resin and MEKP, which is the catalyst that makes the resin harden.
-
3
Attach the fins. This will vary depending on the type of fin that you choose. This is also the time to attach a leash if you want one.
-
4
Shape your board. Using a planer and a hand saw, create the shape and design that you want for your board.
-
5
Glass the board. You need to apply a fiberglass coat on the board, so roll the fiberglass cloth over your board and use scissors to cut it to the shape of the board. You'll want about an inch of overlap. Now mix up the resin and MEKP, apply a thick layer over your blank and adhere the glass and the board together. Smooth out any bubbles and walk on it while it's drying.
-
6
Finish the board. Sand everything once more and polish it for a finished look.
